Cold Romans
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005We were up at Hadrian’s wall last week. It was cold, and it rained half the time, but I reckon that’s the authentic legionary-on-the-wall experience.
The wall itself is impressive, snaking over the hills, and the forts are interesting, but I would most recommend a visit to Vindalanda.

Saturday, November 5th, 2005Sarah and I couldn’t decide whether to go to the fireworks tonight… so we didn’t, and we can’t quite see any from the house, but we certainly can hear them - there are bangs all the time, and a continuous, background rumble from all around.
